Launch of a study on the realities of French-speaking researchers working in a minority context in Canada

In 2019, Acfas gave to the Canadian Institute for Research on Linguistic Minorities (CIRLM) and the Canada Research Chair on the Transformations of Scholarly Communication the mandate to lead a study to paint a detailed portrait of the environment of research in French, and to analyze the challenges and needs of French-speaking researchers working in minority communities in Canada. Our project aims to make up for the lack of reliable evidence on the situation of French-speaking researchers. These results will enable the support of the actions of research workers in French in Canada, all while raising awareness among the actors in government and research. The goal is to enable Acfas to develop a strategy to help researchers working in French to address the challenges they encounter. As such, the key actors in this area will have a common road map to adequately and effectively support researchers and student researchers.
